HELLO 2019/ 2018 Recap
It’s been a minute since we posted but that doesn’t mean we’ve been resting on our heels- plans for 2019 are in full swing and, even though we say this year after year, it’s true- this year promises to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever!
First- Let’s quickly talk about 2018!
Last year we had three gyms come on board to remotely raise funds towards our collective effort- Iron Lodge Fitness in Gravenhurst, CrossFit Exhilarate in Orillia and CrossFit Fullsend right here in London, Thank you Robert, Cody, Morgan and Jeff for your contributions to the event. With their help we were able to raise a total of $22,000 in support of Wounded Warriors of Canada.
Together with National Service Dogs we are pleased to announce that we will be placing NSD “Ajax” with the Peel Fire Department as their in-house mental health dog- Stay tuned for more on that
Looking back and ahead...Onward and upward!
We wouldn’t be where we are without the hospitality of the gyms that helped us grow strong roots. MVMT Strength and Hybrid Fitness were the gyms that were the incubators for this event, allowing us to use their space, equipment, time, coaches, and encouraging their communities to rally around a common cause. Thank you for being so patient with us as we worked through growing pains, making each year more successful than the last- we are endlessly grateful to all of you.
That being said, it’s time for a facility expansion! We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Fanshawe College and the Department of Public Safety. They will be hosting us in their enormous 13,500 sq. ft. gym facility...wait until you see this place! There’s SO much room for activities... I’m convinced you could land a plane in there.
This is a bit of a big scary step for us- it means reaching even further into our communities for support and participation. We have a new team format that we’re introducing this year, challenging you to complete all the workouts with your team of 4 - more details to follow, are you #ALLIN? Don’t worry - you can still participate in single (Or multiple) workouts as an individual.
Without the comfort of the built-in gym communities, we’re looking to you to bring your friends and family to participate- we’re confident that you won’t let us down so save the date for November 16-17! (Saturday/Sunday)
Generous Sponsors
Along with the gyms that have hosted us in the past, we have had some incredibly generous support from some key sponsors.
Since the beginning, Wendy Hinton RMT from Be Balanced Wellness has helped keep our team and athletes moving well through all the gruelling workouts. She will be onsite again with her tape and glue to treat you to expert body work throughout the event.
The Team at MHP, Dr. Evan (Chiropractor), Juliana Bergin (Physiotherapist), Nichole Lee(RMT), will also be there taking care of all your tissues and issues. We can always count on them every year to put us back together after the dust settles.
We couldn’t manage to stay awake and enthusiastic through a 24 Hour event without being well caffeinated- that’s why we are super excited about one of this year’s early adopters: Black Rifle Coffee Canada - this veteran owned company will be onsite as our primary caffeinator. Thanks Nick, we’re glad to have you on board.
Stay tuned, we’re up to big things - If you want to help, email cheri@24hoursofheroes.com or gord@24hoursofheroes.com
